Hey I wanted a different MVP website! So click on the icon above to go get a big list of them.

Introduction

These pages are a central point for various articles, extended versions of Usenet postings, contributions to the RM Networks email list, and other sundry stuff that I've done over the years. Nothing more, nothing less.

Feel free to look around and make use of anything you find if it helps you. The only thing I ask is that you do not copy any of my work and try to pass it off as your own. I do reserve the copyright on all the stuff I write, and I would ask that everyone who uses this site respects that.

Usual "under construction" disclaimer ;-)

This site is in the process of being re-jiggered to use CityDesk from FogCreek Software. This is my latest excuse for not doing any updates recently, but hopefully, I should be getting my finger out and working on some new stuff because CityDesk makes it extremely easy to "just write" and not have to worry about playing around with html files all the time, which is most of what put me off more regular updates in the past. In any case, part of the stuff I'll be adding will be a review of how CityDesk has been for me and how I found the "switchover" from conventional web editing tools, because I think this could really be a big deal for a lot of people out there.

Contacting me

Like most Microsoft MVPs I do a lot of support work in the Microsoft Public newsgroups (microsoft.public. hierarchy) and I'm also active in a few others such as alt.comp.virus and uk.education.schools-it (my day job is network manager for a college) and I am also quite active on RM's network managers mailing list. If you read an article here and find you still have questions I would ask that you post them in the relevant newsgroup/mailing list - I wont always have the best answer so you should put questions in newsgroups where several people can have a go at helping you, and I always tend to read newsgroup/mailing list postings and answer them before even thinking about answering privately emailed questions.

If you want to make a comment about an article here, please email mailto:bofh@mvps.orgwith your comment. If you think I explained something especially well then I'd appreciate a note telling me so - and I'll know to keep doing it that way. If you think I did a bad job of explaining something, then everyone who uses the site will appreciate you dropping me a note to fix it up
