contact me

First of all, thanks for visiting. I hope you've enjoyed it.

If you require assistance with a specific problem on your computer/network, please do not email me. Instead, please use the appropriate forum for shared help from the list below. I'm present on all the forums mentioned below and so are a lot of other regular and helpful contributors.

If you have a query about the site itself, I'm always glad to hear from people about my website. If you have any questions or queries or criticisms about my website, please contact me at my email address - bofh@mvps.org - note that unsolicited requests for help that should properly be in one of the various forums below will be deleted unread.

I do read the other email address mentioned at the foot of every page, but not very often, it is more of a spamtrap than anything else. Writing to that address is a fairly good way to have your email ignored for a month then deleted unread by mistake... aren't you glad you read this and found out the right way to contact me!

For all problems related to windows and windows security:

The Microsoft discussion forums / newsgroups - or for those of you with newsreaders, point them to msnews.microsoft.com

For problems with RM Connect - www.rm.com

For general problems with computing / networking in schools, use a news reader and look for the group uk.education.schools-it

For general problems with computer viruses, use a news reader and visit alt.comp.virus and alt.comp.antivirus

My own forums - post here if you wish to ask me about a problem. I guarantee that I will respond if I know the answer, but it may take a few days to do so if I am busy, on vacation, or whatever.

I'm sorry if it seems a little unfriendly to ask people not to write to my email address asking for help, but I do have other things to do besides watch my email, and I've actually had complaints in the past from people who felt I didn't solve their problems fast enough for them.
